8Tamagawa Library(Open Access Section)
The open access section (public hall) is an open structure merged with the courtyard. Within its rectangular framework there are large, long-spanning cross-beams of about 30 meters connecting the columns on the east side of the building to the brick wall on the west side. In addition, a fan-shaped curtain wall in the middle of the crossbeam helps to make the courtyard a part of the room while still separating the inside from the outside.
The walls are painted white or pale gray so they can be used as backgrounds for such things as library guides, but the columns and crossbeams are painted green to complement the red brick color.
