Born to a pottery studio home of Kutani Porcelain Ware in Katamachi, Kanazawa
Graduated from the Architecture Department, School of Engineering, Tokyo Imperial University
Received among others the Order of Culture and the Order of the Sacred Treasure (first class). He was also the first Honorary Citizen of Kanazawa City.
