There are all kinds of reference materials related to the ocean and local crafts on the third floor. The area where the library is located used to be port of call for Kitamaebune cargo ships, which thrived during the Edo period. The area is also known for making soy sauce called “Ohno Shoyu” as well as the mechanical engineering business. We collect the reference materials related to these subjects extensively. At the same time we proactively exchange cultural information and books with our sister cities, namely Suzhou City in China and Jeonju City in South Korea.
